Coal Industry Eyes Eco-Friendly Fuel Additive

Carbon Confidential....

The international coal industry is showing interest in an inexpensive, environmentally friendly fuel additive that is said to significantly reduce emissions and improve fuel economy.

Use of the additive in coal-fired power plants produces cleaner coal combustion products, or CCPs, according to industry sources.

From Ash to Wallboard

The CCP known as dry FGD ash is used in the manufacture of wallboard; but the ash has to be especially clean in order for the wallboard to meet commercial quality control standards. Hence, the industry's interest in the fuel additive, which has undergone rigorous testing on five continents, with more than 1.5 billion miles of use on roads and oceans.

Coal-burning tests of the additive are currently underway in Europe and China.

The product was developed by a privately owned company.
