As Turkey turns away from the West, even, paradoxically, as Ankara seeks EU membership (with Obama's blessing), many Americans want to know: Who lost Turkey?

The answer is: Bush and Obama.

Acting in the name of democracy promotion, the Bush administration foolishly blocked Turkey's staunchly secular military from ousting the country's crypto-Islamist government. Obama went further. He personally endorsed the Islamizing trend and encouraged Turkey's embrace of nuclear-arming, islamist Iran, at the cost of scrapping Turkey's traditional, strategic alliance with Israel.
