What West Wrought: Anarchy in Libya

Tribes and Militias Battle for Power

Turns out, the civil war never really ended, as shown by this report on a town beyond the control of the country's so-called central government.

Libya is a nightmare--made in America and Europe. The betrayal of the old regime, with which the West had made a most useful deal, has boomeranged. A secular dictatorship that was cooperating closely in the struggle against Al Qaeda and its affiliated groups was inexplicably overthrown by "rebels" riddled with Al Qaeda operatives and sympathizers.

Yet another unnecessary intervention. Yet another strategic blunder in freedom's name.

After Vietnam and Iraq … and the 9/11 blowback from the secret war in Afghanistan that unleashed the global jihad … where's the outrage?
