In Australia, Wind Power is Cheaper than Coal


Wind power is less expensive than coal in some countries, including Australia--because of its carbon tax. Read more.

But wind power , like solar power, is intermittent, not a viable means of producing baseload electricity. For baseload, biomass, hydropower, and nuclear power are the coal alternatives. The cost--and potential risk--of nuclear power is increasingly considered too high by many communities, which leaves only biomass and hydropower, where it is available, as alternatives to the dirtiest fossil fuel.
