Saudi Arabia to Give $3B to Lebanese Army to Counter Hezbollah

Saudi Arabia, which is backing Salafist (Al Qaeda-like) Islamist fighters in Syria, has promised to give $3 billion to Lebanon's Army. Most of the money will be used to buy arms from France.

The Saudis want to bolster the Lebanese Army as a counterweight against Iran's Shiite Lebanese proxy, Hezbollah.
