A Sunni Islamist Russian terrorist group called the Caucasus Emirate, also known as Imarat Kavkaz, is threatening to attack the Sochi Winter Olympic Games--with chemical weapons.

A declassified intelligence report revealed the close relationship between Al Qaeda chief Osama Bin Laden and a Caucasus Emirate predecessor organization called Chechen Republic of Ichkeriya--and their intense interest in acquiring and using weapons of mass destruction--in the 1990s.
A number of Caucasus Emirate terrorists have traveled to Syria to fight alongside Al Qaeda-linked groups seeking to replace the Russia-alled secular regime (which is heavily supported by Shiite Islamist Iran and its Shiite Islamist Lebanese proxy, Hezbollah) with an Islamic state.
