Turkish Regime Purges Police

Turkey's embattled Islamist regime, hailed as a "model" for "the Muslim world" by the Obama administration, is purging police in retaliation for a widespread corruption investigation that has reached regime friends and supporters.

The police purge follows a purge of the military, traditional guardian of Turkey's secular system.

Turkey's ruling party is locked in a power struggle with a rival Islamist group on which the party relied for reducing the power of the military.
