The 37th session of the annual Governing Council meeting of the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) will be held at its headquarters in Rome from 19 to 20 February 2014. The meeting will bring together participants from governments, United Nations agencies, farmers’ organizations, civil society and the private sector to discuss the importance of investing in family farming for a sustainable, food secure future.
Speakers at this year’s Governing Council include:
- Fabrizio Saccomanni, Minister of Economy and Finance of the Italian Republic
- Paul Polman, Chief Executive Officer, Unilever
- Andrew Rugasira, Chief Executive Officer, Good African Coffee
- Representatives of smallholder family farmers: Luiz Carlos Ribeiro de Lima, Brazil, Cielo Baez, Colombia, Ibrahim Coulibaly, Mali, Olivier Oliem, Philippines, Georgette Ebrahim Aziz, Syria and Yazidi Rashadi Shaaban, Tanzania.
